Printing beyond colour has the potential to generate a whole set of new features for secure document production in currency and identity. This publication explores the relevant emerging technologies, opportunities and threats.
Printing technologies have made and continue to make a substantial contribution to secure document production. However, these have for the most part been concerned with producing visual colours, perceived by the unaided eye as conventional colour printing.
The purpose of this publication is to go beyond this as “printing beyond colour” has the potential to generate new features for secure document production.
The aim of this publication is to give an overview of printing beyond colour, identifying both the key areas and the future potential for secure documents. In addition to identifying techniques for the production of new features it also shows how these could and are being deployed for the illicit reproduction of existing features.
